Ash 8 Panel Door

Designer Doors is located in Burghill, Ohio a small, mostly farming community, situated in the northeast part of the state. Our 28,000 square foot facility is twelve miles north of interstate 80, twenty miles north of Youngstown, Ohio, which is considered to be the midway point between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and centrally located to some of the best hardwood forests in the country.

Designer Doors Inc. started production mid winter of 1984, initially supplying solid hardwood doors and other millwork to retail customers in the local area, and then later branching into supplying lumberyards and home improvement centers throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia. We then began shifting sales to the internet in March of 1998, gradually moving almost all of our sales to the internet at the present time. At the same time expanding our product line to include an extensive line of door hardware. We now have the capabilities to receive orders and ship our doors or hardware to almost anywhere in the world. See all of our products in our building products directory.

We specialize in manufacturing solid hardwood panel, interior and exterior doors. All of these doors are produced from start to finish, at our own plant, then sold directly to you, our valued customer. We only manufacture doors after they have been ordered, no inventory is kept. Doors can be purchased as doors only, these are called slabs, or they can be prehung on a jamb (frame). Any of our slab doors, wood or glass, can be used as a pocket door.. Our interior doors are manufactured in many styles of raised or flat panel; matching panel designs can also be ordered for any of your bifold or multifold door needs. Cafe doors, similar to the swinging doors of the old western saloons, can also be purchased. Our exterior hardwood panel door applications are available in a raised panel only. We also offer french (glass) doors in a variety of styles in either beveled or standard flat glass, including special glass pantry and laundry doors, along with the traditional full, five, ten, or fifteen lite french doors. Exterior doors with insulated glass are also available. If you need custom sizes we can accommodate you in many of our wood or glass door designs.

I recently purchased a pair of custom french doors for my 103 year old house. These doors cost me $1778.23. I received the doors, and called my buddies over to hang them. These 3 guys are all carpenters and said they would help me to hang the doors.
When I received the doors, they were too big..and inch off on both width and height. I was worried but my friends told me not to worry, they could do the work to make the doors fit. My friends went to do their work. They had to trim the doors down in order to make them fit. It was then that my friends called something to my attention. He said; “I thought you said that these doors were suppose to be maid of cherry wood?” I replied; “I did…hear look..thats what it says on the order too.” He told me that the only thing cherry on these doors was a 1/8 inch thick laminate like covering over pine wood. They asked me again how much I paid for these doors..I told them..and they all said that I had been taken. They all suggested that I contact the Better Business Bureau…so I did.
I emailed Designer Doors, Inc and Interior Doors, Inc., but I’ve gotten no response yet..which only leads me to believe that they have been caught.

Please, don’t let this happen to you. If you ask for a particular type of wood for your doors, make sure you ask just how the doors are made…I was told the reason my doors were so expensive was because of the type of wood I was using. Well…here is what was so expensive. If I could stack all the cherry wood on top of each other on my two doors, it would barely be thicker than a 2 x 4…there…thats what was so expensive…so don’t let this happen to you.
I’ve already got the complaint ID back from the Better Business Bureau..so I’ll try to let you all know what happens.

I’m interested in installing a single sliding pocket door with the following criteria:

- Frameless and jambless finish. I want to retain the basic look of a plaster opening, without trim etc.

- The door needs to be a tempered, all-glass panel/plate from 3/8s to half-inch thick with only the hanger hardware concealed behind minimal trim at the top.

Can this be accomplished with your hardware and kits? If so, what exactly would I need to accomplish the job from start to finish? Which kit and what additional parts?

The closest that I’ve come is finding a kit from “portman pocketdoors” in the UK. Their web address is:

Thanks in advance!

Wow. I can’t believe that happened to you. Some people are so untrustworthy. I know a good company for wood doors is Nick’s Building Supply.. They have a huge selection online and really good prices. Hope this helps you in the future.
