We recently started making  a  V-Groove Door and also the Pantry & Laundry Doors.

Pantry and Laundry Doors

At Designer Doors we manufacture frosted glass doors
designed specifically for your pantry or laundry room needs. We
use an exclusive glass design made for our company that allows
light into the room, yet keeps visibility to a minimum. The unique
design incorporates the written word “Pantry” or “Laundry”
and the doors are available in both 6/8 (80”) high and 8/0
(96”) doors and are available in poplar, red oak, white oak, cherry, walnut, hickory, ash, and mahogany, in 24”, 30” and 36” widths. These distinctive glass doors will highlight the entrance to any pantry or laundry area. All glass is 1/4” thick tempered glass, instead of more standard 1/8” glass to give you a more impact resistant glass. This glass is purchased in quantity and stocked at our plant, then added to our made to order hand crafted doors to give our customer a superior product.

Solid Hardwood V – Groove Doors

InteriorDoors.Com has just introduced its’ own line of solid hardwood V-Groove interior doors. These doors will be available in our 1 3/8” interior doors in our square stile and rail Kinsman Style Designs first, and also will be available in both sticking styles
for our 1 3/4” thick doors. The V Groove Door Panels will actually consist of separate tongue and grooved solid lumber in 1/2”thicknesses. Other design options of these doors will also be coming shortly.

What size door do I need to allow for wheel chairs  ?

(A)   To be ADA compliant you need to have a minimum clear opening of  32″  With this law keep in mind you must consider the width of the hinges and door stop when calculating your opening. We recommend using at least a 36″ door if possible.

Do you stain or finish the doors ?

(A)   No we do not paint, stain, or finish our doors in any way. The doors are machine sanded, then finished off with a 120 grit hand sanding before being shipped to you. The reason we don’t finish our doors is due to most customers wanting to match their door finish to other wood products in their home or office. Another concern is time delay in shipping finish samples back and forth.

What is the difference between hardwoods and softwoods?

(A) The terms hardwood and softwood have nothing to do with the actual hardness of wood. The terms instead are applied to differentiate the microscopic composition and physical properties between the hardwood and softwood categories. Hardwood comes from deciduous trees, which produce either a fruit or a nut, have broad leaves, and generally become dormant in cold weather. In sub-tropical or tropical climates the deciduous trees do not go dormant. Softwood comes from coniferous trees (conifers), which
are for the most part cone bearing evergreens that have needles.

Do you make doors with glass in them ?

(A)
Yes, we do make several styles of doors with glass , the most common are the French Doors. They can have from 1 up to several grass panels (lites). We only use Tempered Glass in all of our doors. We also have Beveled Glass, Grooved Glass and also several Custom Glass Options.

What exactly is Tempered Glass ?

(A)   Tempered glass is a type of glass that is
manufacturing process where it is reheating just below the melting
point and then suddenly cooling it. This process makes the Tempered glass much
stronger and safer than standard glass and if it does break
it will just shatter into small pebble like pieces, without
having sharp edges. Tempered is the only type of glass
that we use in our doors. The tempered glass panels can
not be re cut after they have been tempered.

Do you have a door warranty for the doors you produce ?

(A) Yes, we do have a warranty, one of the simplest, no nonsense warranties in the door business. Our interior doors are warranted for ten years, exterior doors one year, and that warranty is transferable to whomever you might sell the property to within that time period. You can click here to view our complete door warranty. Designer Doors 10 Year Warranty

Once I receive a door quote how long is it good for ?

(A) Once a price quote has been given the customer has 30 days from the day the quote was sent out to place the order and still receive the same purchase and shipping price listed on that quote. After thirty days it will need to be re-quoted as shipping changes are rapidly changing. Where our door prices tend to remain relatively constant with very few price increases.

What does it mean when you tell me a lead time ?

(A)   Lead time simply put is the time it takes from you placing an order to us manufacturing and loading your order on the truck for delivery. Our lead time is designated as FOB (From Our Business) and will vary at different times of the year depending on the amount and size of current orders. Occasionally events such as machinery breakdown or illness in the plant will cause a setback.
Under normal circumstances our lead time is 2-4 weeks but has gotten as high as 6-8. Rest assured that we do everything we can to meet these lead times but they are estimated lead times. Your salesperson will discuss our current lead time with you. The freight company delivery time is not factored in to lead times. We use only reputable carriers whose destination arrival times are within reasonable limits.

The start of your lead time is based upon your salesperson’s receipt of the following:

1. Your verification that all aspects of your order are
correct. (Door style, wood type, dimensions, door handing
and hinge finish selection if applicable, etc.)

2. Your deposit has been made.

3. Your written confirmation that your order is correct
and that you want to proceed has been received via email
or fax. No verbal approvals can be accepted.

What are your terms of payment ?

(A)   We require 50% down of the total order prior to any order being sent to the plant. When your doors have been manufactured we will inform you that your order is ready to ship, at that time we will require the balance due to be paid in full before the doors are released to the shipping company.

The only exception to these requirements is any order totaling less than $1,000  must be paid in full prior to processing.

For payment we accept Visa, Mastercard, & Discover card. Payment can also be made by Bank Wire or Money Order. Personal checks will be accepted but must clear before order is processed. If you pay through a certified check you will receive a 1.5% discount on the total price of the door order. ( Discount does not apply to shipping cost.)  We do not offer any financing or payment plans.

What does in mean when asked the door handing ?

(A)   Door handing is the term used to describe which way the door is hung on the jamb (frame) determining which direction the door swings. Click on our door handing chart for visual instruction in determining the handing of your doors.

What is the difference between a Slab door or a pre- hung door ?

(A)    A slab door is a door having no jamb material attached to it, no holes bored in it or hinges attached. This could be almost any style door ( Raised Panel , Flat Panel , French Doors with Glass , Solid or Hollow, wood , Steel , Fiberglass ) It’s just a rectangular Slab of material. It would normally be used for a pocket door ,or by-pass doors.
And a pre-hung door would have a jamb , bored holes & hinges on it.

What is a Dutch Door ?

(A)  A dutch door is essentially two horizontal door halves, with the top and bottom halves operating independently from each other. You can close the bottom for some privacy, while leaving the top open, allowing fresh air into the room and enabling you to have a conversation with someone on the other side of the door. Dutch doors also make a great baby gate, and can be used for a nursery or play room door. When the top and bottom are locked together, the two sections work as one, like a standard door. The dutch door originated in the Netherlands in the early 1600’s.

What is a Cafe Door ?

(A)   A cafe door is a double door unit consisting of two short doors, that when hung on the appropriate hinges will swing freely in both directions, just like the saloon doors of the old west. Cafe doors are available in heights of 36” and 42”.

Do I need to pick up a door order or can you ship my door order ?

(A)   If you happen to live close to our business you can chose to pick up an order. As for shipping , we can & have shipped doors to Germany , Alaska & all over the United States.
