We recently installed new baseboards that are poplar.Because we needed baseboards that were 7" we were limited and found these at a local wood shop. I now would like to replace our hollow doors with solid wood doors. I know that to get the color to match the new baseboards I will need to get poplar doors. My question is: Is poplar a good wood for doors? Isn't it soft? Would I be better off getting a harder wood for a door and maybe just try to get the staining as close as possible to the baseboards?
