Ash 8 Panel Door

Designer Doors is located in Burghill, Ohio a small, mostly farming community, situated in the northeast part of the state. Our 28,000 square foot facility is twelve miles north of interstate 80, twenty miles north of Youngstown, Ohio, which is considered to be the midway point between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and centrally located to some of the best hardwood forests in the country.

Designer Doors Inc. started production mid winter of 1984, initially supplying solid hardwood doors and other millwork to retail customers in the local area, and then later branching into supplying lumberyards and home improvement centers throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia. We then began shifting sales to the internet in March of 1998, gradually moving almost all of our sales to the internet at the present time. At the same time expanding our product line to include an extensive line of door hardware. We now have the capabilities to receive orders and ship our doors or hardware to almost anywhere in the world. See all of our products in our building products directory.

We specialize in manufacturing solid hardwood panel, interior and exterior doors. All of these doors are produced from start to finish, at our own plant, then sold directly to you, our valued customer. We only manufacture doors after they have been ordered, no inventory is kept. Doors can be purchased as doors only, these are called slabs, or they can be prehung on a jamb (frame). Any of our slab doors, wood or glass, can be used as a pocket door.. Our interior doors are manufactured in many styles of raised or flat panel; matching panel designs can also be ordered for any of your bifold or multifold door needs. Cafe doors, similar to the swinging doors of the old western saloons, can also be purchased. Our exterior hardwood panel door applications are available in a raised panel only. We also offer french (glass) doors in a variety of styles in either beveled or standard flat glass, including special glass pantry and laundry doors, along with the traditional full, five, ten, or fifteen lite french doors. Exterior doors with insulated glass are also available. If you need custom sizes we can accommodate you in many of our wood or glass door designs.

Main Attributes of Doors
Manufactured

by Designer Doors, Inc.

1.
All interior doors manufactured by Designer Doors, Inc., have a 10 year limited warranty. Most of our competitors manufacturing solid wood doors have one-year warranties. Unlike our competitors, our warranty is also transferable to someone else purchasing your home until the ten years are up.

2.
All doors have ½” diameter hardwood dowels that are
7” long, manually inserted into door stiles and rails on both
sides on top and bottom for extra strength.

3.
Our standard raised panel doors are made to matching profiles to our doorstops. The ogee edge on the doorstop is the same as the ogee cut around the panels. On our flat panel doors with square edges, we have matching square stop.

4.
Raised panels on our 1 3/8” doors have 13/16” thick panels. Our 1 ¾” thick interior doors have 1 1/8” thick panels.

5.
All doors are manufactured at our own plant in Northeast Ohio. No parts or doors are imported. All the lumber used is kiln dried to ensure a high quality product from start to finish.

6.
All doors are machine sanded, with finish hand sanding.

7.
Door stiles on both interior doors and matching bifolds have
1” hardwood cores. Over this is laminated either 3/8” or 3/16” solid wood pieces, depending upon whether 1 3/8” or 1 ¾” thick doors are made. This is much thicker than veneers, and can be sanded if you damage your door, unlike veneers, which can not be sanded, due to thickness of veneer. All other parts of the door are solid all the way through. Our laminated stiles are designed to be highly stable, and for this reason, our warpage rates are less than 1/10 of one percent of our total doors produced.

8.
Doors can either be shipped as slabs (doors only) or pre-hung. No assembly will be required except for double doors, which will require only header to be reattached.

9.
No particleboard, or MDF, is used in our doors. Only hardwoods are used in our doors. Our jambs are all solid hardwood also, and are usually matching to the doors, unless you request otherwise.

10.
Heavy-duty L.E. Johnson hardware  is available through our hardware dept. with several types available, for different weight totals. We have available in stock,bi-fold door hardware, pocket door frame kits, bypass door hardware, multifold door hardware, and wall mounted sliding door hardware for all our doors. All are heavy-duty commercial grade.

11.
We have ten standard hinge finishes included in our pre-hanging, at no extra charge. Most of our competitors have just a few and charge extra for theses other finishes.

12.
We have corner sections that we sell of each door type and wood, which are refundable, when sent back, regardless of whether or not doors are purchased.

13.
Doors are available in all sizes, unlike imported doors, or high production domestic doors. Not only are our doors available in standard increments of 2” for widths, we can also custom make any size and height for someone. If you need a 27’’ wide door,we can make it. It will be made to width, not cut down. Height is also the same. If you need doors 93” high, instead of a standard 8-foot height (96”), we can do it.

14.
We have been producing doors since 1984, and have the experience to produce a higher quality door than many of our competitors, and also the production capability to handle larger quantities of doors at one time. Our complex of buildings covers
28,000  square feet of production and storage, and we currently have 35 employees, which is smaller than large national companies, but larger than small one and two person shops, giving us the ability to do almost any size job, but not producing a mass market product.

15.
If any doors are damaged in shipment by a trucking company, and you note it on the shipping documents, we will start production immediately on any replacement door(s), and we do not wait for a trucking company to reimburse us, before we start production on replacement doors. We try to package as well as possible, but on rare occasions, a shipment may be damaged, and we try to make the claim as easy as possible, and will absorb any cost not picked up by the trucking company.

16.
Unlike many competitors, Designer Doors will warranty all doors
that we make up to 42 inches wide. Many competitors will not warranty doors over 36 inches wide.

(A)    Our method of construction allows the door height to be trimmed down no more than 1” from the bottom rail and ½” from the top rail for a total cut down allowance of no more than 1 ½”. The door width can be trimmed ¼” on each side for a total of no more than ½”. Calculate the size of door that you need, take closes standard size door and if needed subtract the trim allowances, any height or width that is not within these specifications is considered to be a custom size door.Click on the custom sizing link for examples and pricing information.
